We Love Our Dillsburg, PA Community

Dillsburg is a small community that values farming and agriculture. The nickname “pickle town” is just a play on the founder, Matthew Dill. Valley Storage Dillsburg loves being your self storage experts in this area. We gathered a few of our favorite events, stories, and specials points of interest to share with you. We love our Dillsburg, PA community and we hope you do too!

There’s an annual Dillsburg Farmers Fair event held the third weekend in October. There are exhibits, parades, fairs, flea market, Barn Yard Olympics, pageants, contests, antique cars and farm tractors, food, entertainment, and much more. This event lasts for 6 days, from Friday afternoon, till the following Saturday. The town closes Main Street so people can come out in the masses to see our beautiful town.

Dillsburg is also iconic for the New Year’s Eve party held every year. Once again, we close the streets for food concessions, a band, ice sculpting, and the Pickle drop at midnight. When Mr. Pickle lands in the top hat, there’s always a beautiful display of fireworks. By the way, “Little Dill” drops at 7 pm, so the children can get to bed on time!

Dillsburg is home to one of the last outdoor drive-in theaters! Haar’s drive-in opened in the 1940’s along with the auction house. Both locations are still hot spots to visit when coming for the day or an extended vacation. Another local landmark you won’t want to miss is Mr. Pickle. Quite a few years ago, perhaps in 2009, someone carved Mr. Pickle into a tree stump. He was quite the tourist attraction! It’s not certain if the tree rotted, or sadly, vandalism was the cause of his demise, but Mr. Pickle was found along the road in April of last year.
